2008 Junior High All State Choir Conductor

Mr. Bob Horton
Bob Horton is in his seventeenth year of teaching. He is a 1990 Magna Cum Laude Graduate of Sam Houston, where he was a student of B.R. Henson. In May, 2005, Bob earned a Master of Music degree, with an emphasis in Conducting at Sam Houston State University, where he was a student of Dr. Allen Hightower. He is currently the head choir director of The Woodlands High School.
Bob leads a choral program of over 250 students which comprise seven performing entities over two campuses. Prior to this position, Bob taught at York Junior High for 4 years, and elementary music and intermediate Choir in Klein ISD for 2 years. At McCullough, Bob's Boys Choir was selected to be an Honor Group for the 1998 TMEA Convention. The York
Junior High Combined Girls were selected as an Honor Choir for the 1996 TMEA Convention. The York and McCullough, and Woodlands High School choirs under Bob's direction have been awarded consistent sweepstakes trophies and named "Best in Class" at various festivals. Bob has been honored by his colleagues, who selected him "Teacher of the Year" in 2000.
Bob has been fortunate to be invited as a Region Choir Clinician for Middle School/Junior High School and High School in different regions across the state. He has also served as a
UIL adjudicator at all levels in Regions around the state.
Bob also served a two year term as the Middle School/Junior High Vice President of Texas Choral Directors Association, and is now President of Texas Choral Directors.
Bob has served the Woodlands United Methodist Church for the past ten years as a Music Associate
